Well, I'm homebrewing another Charm set for a Yozi, this time for Malfeas's bottomless sea of toxic acid. So far, I've got a number of Charms that derive from her physical form, but I'm starting to need the Charms that derive from her aproach to existance.

What is Kimberry like, personality wise? I can't find much about her likes, dislikes, or methods from CoCD:Malfeas, other than everyone dumping their sewage into gets her ticked off sometimes. Is there any mention of how she likes things in other sources?

It's "Kimbery".

"Kimberry" sounds like one of Count Chocula's friends.

According to Neph, Kimbery is Borderline Personality Disorder with all the knobs turned up so hard they've broken off.

So, if I'm reading Wikipedia's cluster of psychobabble correctly, that means Kimbery alternates between extremes of mood at the drop of a hat and thinks in terms of black and white, all or nothing, etc. Correct?

Yup. She's also got a persecution complex.

The flotsam of what used to be a Primordial's mind, drifting around an infinite ocean of choices. The remains occupy multiple points on this plane, but they cannot settle down to the seafloor because, more often than not, her dispositions are exclusive and antithetical to each other. Kimbery tries this and that, testing the ways she could be. She cannot choose, so she poisons the water and destroys all the choices so she does not have to choose.

...that's how I imagine a Primordial BPD would work out.

To quote the sidebar from the Manual of Exalted Power: Infernals;

MoEP:I pg. 102 wrote:
Kimbery's Charms are not included in this book due to space limitations. Thematically, she is a master of all things aquatic, poisonous and corrosive, whether literally or metaphorically.

Edit: I should add, I wholeheartedly approve of this project, as I love your Szoreny Charm tree.

Completely agree - also it means I can be lazy and don't have to do it myself!

I should probably specify that, by quoting the sidebar, I was trying to draw more attention to the metaphorically part.

So far, one of my biggest problems with Kimbery is that I can't seem to come up with an appropriate Imperfection for her. That's why I wanted to know more about her personality. Most of the Imperfections come from their Yozi's likes and dislikes, like SWLIHN's obsessive need to catalog everything or Cecelyne's need for the strong to rule the weak.

So far, I plan to include analogs to Solar War, Socialize, and Sail Charms in Kimbery's Charm set, along with the usual sprinkling of Charms from Presence, Integrity, Martial Arts, etc. Kimbery will probably end up with a few weather Charms, as the acid rains of Malfeas seem to be her progeny.

BTW, Does anyone know why Kimbery created the Lintha? or why she's the Sea that Matched Against the Flame?

According to the Compas of Celestial Directions: Malfeas, the flame she marched against was, in fact, the flame of Creation, to keep it from raging out of control. Why she crafted the Lintha, no idea.

For her imperfection, I was thinking something like SWLIHN's imperfection. Kimbery doesn't bother with that which she doesn't care about, and so, her perfect defense costs 4 motes more unless the infernal's motivation or intimacies are involved... or something. Something having to do with being unable to perfectly defend against something that isn't garnering your full attention, somehow. I'm not sure how well I'm saying this.

I'm sort of hoping that the secret big announcement that got pushed back because of the DB pdf is an Infernals pdf.

Edit: or in wildest dreams land...an Infernals/Abyssals pdf bundle.

BPD's often marked with indecision and confusion. Maybe her Imperfection is against choices--when her Infernal is assailed by multiple opponents, they are simply unable to choose which to defend against, or the situation is such that they can use more than one perfect defense to defend themselves. When those arise, they must take either no or all options.

...not sure how practically limiting this would be, or if so, how extreme.

Well, the Charm name I'm using for Kimbery's perfect soak Charm is Fury Absorbing Vastness. The idea is that it is as futile to strike Kimbery as it is to strike an ocean; the water just flows right back the way it was after the attack.

I do like the idea of needing to have an Intimacy involved to trigger the perfect, but with the way I see the Charm working, it would mean that Kimbery doesn't flow back together unless she's emotionally involved with the attack.

Idea: Would going with a Malfeas-style Imperfection be too much of a cop out? I mean something like "Charms suffering from the Imperfection of the Sea That Marched Against the Flame can only be activated while in or on a body of water."

Given that in my experience the definate majority of fights in Exalted are on land, that seems a bit harsh. Using the water theme I'd probably take it more metaphorically - when water is struck, sure it goes back to the way it was, but it is displaced before then, causing disturbances in a much larger area.

Although most other infernal flaws seem to be related to a weakness *before* activation instead of after, I quite like the idea of a PD that weakens either the infernal or her allies around her as its activated. The change seems thematically appropriate too - a flaw being applied after activation matches with her inability to make decisions and the contradiction of a war-rich charm tree with a flaw which suits solo characters also seems good.
